Finally, the last of my 2013 Bangkok Trip blog post.
By Day 6, we were both getting a little tired with all the shopping and were getting ourselves ready to head back to Singapore. As such, we didn’t really have anything planned for that day, except maybe to go out for lunch.
Fortunately, our flight was at 9:20pm (Bangkok Time) so it leaves us plenty of time to get ready in the morning, pack our luggage and went for lunch, before heading to the airport later in the afternoon.
But before all that was being done, now the most crucial question is “How heavy are our luggages?”!
With all the picture frames, wall clocks, clothing and bags that we bought throughout this trip, we were really worried that we might exceed the 50kg (25kg per person) baggage allowance that came with our return flight.
As such, we actually planned on getting ourselves a luggage scale just so that we could know how heavy they are, and decide if we need to add on any additional luggage allowance for our flight. However, we didn’t manage to find a store that sell them.. So imagine how relief we were when we realized our hotel actually has one and we were able to borrow it.
Even though the scale might not be totally accurate, at least we did get a rough idea of how heavy they weights and decided that we will be safe even without the additional add-on.
Settled our luggage, the Boyfriend didn’t fail to remind me that there is still a rainbow cake waiting for me in the fridge!
I actually went back to the basement level right before I left Terminal 21 the day before and got myself a rainbow cake. Told you the cake is too pretty to be missed and how can I not gobble down all the happiness when I could!
Done with my food, it was time to check out of our hotel. (Check out time was supposed to be at noon, but the hotel very kindly allows us to check out an hour later.)
Time Check: 12:50pm
The amount of stuff that we bought for this 6D5N trip!
After checking out from our hotel, we decided to leave our luggage with them and head out for lunch. As we didn’t want to wander too far away, we decided to just cross the road over to Pantip Plaza for A&W.
Pantip Plaza is situated right next to Grand Diamond Plaza.. The same stretch along Platinum Mall.
That’s Shibuya 19 and GLOW Hotel.
How can he order A&W without getting me the signature root beer float! 🙁
Maybe it’s because of the slightly rundown A&W outlet and the overall atmosphere, but somehow the food just didn’t taste as good as when I’ve it in Indonesia.
It began to start drizzling after our meal and it makes us think of how thankful we’re to be blessed with nice weather for the past five days while we were in Bangkok. Despite the weather, we eventually managed to walk over to Platinum Mall and even to Central World thereafter.
Pretty telephone booth spotted in Central World.. All pink and girly so it’s no doubt a must to snap pictures with it!
Second time back to Central World and I didn’t forget to go up to Boots to get my favourite Soap & Glory products. Their “Calm One Calm All Bubble Bath” was on a buy-1-get-1 promo and I just have to buy two bottles back.
Thereafter, we also went down to Naraya as I planned to get some souvenirs back to Singapore for my colleague.
Making our way back to the hotel..
Time Check: 3:50pm
Flag down a cab from the hotel to get us to Suvarnabhumi Airport and the cab ride cost us THB370.
It was around 5:30pm when we finally reached the airport and that leaves us plenty of time before our flight. (What I enjoyed most about that day was that we were never rushing for time.. Unlike the previous tip in Bangkok where we literally have to rush to the check-in counter and ran for our flight.)
Decided we might as well make use of the free time and go for an early dinner, so at least we didn’t have to eat while we were in the Duty-Free area. Randomly picked a restaurant and thankfully, the food wasn’t too bad! The meal however, was kind of expensive though. We paid THB620 for a rice, a pad thai and two drinks.
Then it was time to check-in!
Total weight for our baggage: 19.8kg + 21.1kg = 40.9kg
Shopping start again (for me) right after we stepped into the Duty-Free area!
It was nearly 1am (Singapore Time) when we finally touched down.. And almost 2am by the time we’ve cleared immigration and finished our supper at Ya Kun.
Overall, it was a really fulfilling trip! We’ve gone to so much more places as compared to the previous time we came to Bangkok, and tried so much more food (thinking of the fried sweet potato balls, mini chicken wings and shibuya honey toast). I guess all my research prior to this trip really came in useful and we were able to find our way to so many places and eateries with that. Most importantly, I’m also very grateful for the best companion that I’ll ever have who went exploring with me and helping me carrying all my stuff. Haa.
Till the next trip..
I’m already looking forward to our Hong Kong trip next year!
