Review: samplestore.com

March 7, 2014

Haven’t done a review post in quite awhile so I thought I will do one today.

I’m sure most of you have heard about samplestore.com?

But if you haven’t, then I’m going to share it with you today and you should probably go check it out after you’ve finish reading this post!

Basically, samplestore is a place whereby you can get product samples and try it out before deciding whether you want to spend the money and get a full size product. It’s exceptionally good for people like me, who always like to try out the latest beauty product in the market but is often unsure if I should pay the money for a full size bottle.

Speaking from real life experience, there is just way too many times whereby I heard people raving about a particular product and rushed out to buy it, only to end up discovered that the product doesn’t suit me. It may be because my skin type is different from others, or I just simply don’t like the texture or the scent of the product. But regardless, I’m always very disappointed when that happened as I felt I’ve just wasted my money.

If you think something like that did happen to you before, then it’s time for you to give samplestore a try.

How it works is really simple.

  1. Head over to the site and sign up for a free account.
  2. Choose to select up to a maximum of four product samples and add them into your shopping cart. – They offer a wide range of products that you can choose from and they are grouped under different categories (body, eye, face, hair, etc). You can also select products base on labels such as “Free Delivery”, “All Time Favourites”, “Most Reviewed”, etc.
  3. Once you’re done with your selections, proceed to cart out your items and pay for a SGD 5.99 handling / delivery fee. – If the items you picked happened to offer free delivery (sponsored), then it means you don’t have to pay for it at all!
  4. Wait for the items to be delivered to your mailing address.
  5. Try it out and share your review on the site.

With each item you rate / review, you will get two points added to your account. You can then use these points to redeem for more product samples. Just keep on rating the products and earn more points in return.

Refer to the FAQs here.

And now, let me show you what I’ve recently got from the site.

First of all, just how cute is the packaging. This is probably the first time I’ve ever received a parcel in a form of zip lock bag!

The four samples that I picked out were Bioberma Sensibio H2O, Opti-Free Pure Moist Multi Purpose Disinfection Solution, Steam Cream and Rachel K CC Cream (Neutral).

So far, I’ve already tried out the Bioberma solution and the Opti-Free contact lens solution.

The Bioberma Sensibio H2O solution has always been a highly talk about and recommended product by Youtubers from US and UK. I’ve tried it a long time ago before I even got the sample and I really like it. It’s a water based solution that is meant to cleanse and remove make-up. You simply pour it onto a cotton pad and gently wipe your face with it and it will help in removing all the oil and dirt. Its non-rinse formulation means that you can skip your facial wash when you’re using this and on top of that, it is also fragrance free and feels very gentle on the skin. The one thing I like about it is it doesn’t leave my face feeling greasy. I’ve rather oily skin so I tend to stay away from any oil-based make-up remover so this is like a perfect alternative.

I’ve been thinking about skipping my make-up wipes and facial wash once I’ve used up my current ones and just use this one product. I think it might also be more value for money especially if I get the big bottle at SGD 39.90.

A little goes a long way so a big bottle can probably last me for quite awhile!

The other item that I have tried was the contact lens solution and again, this is another product that I’ve tried in the past and really like it. Despite having so many brands of contact lens solution in the market, the only two brands that I’ve ever used are Opti-Free and FreshKon. Eyes are one of the most important assets of our body and I definitely don’t want to take the risk of trying out other brands so I’ve always been sticking to these two. Opti-Free was actually the brand I got my first contact lens from back when I was in Secondary 4. Then when I started to switch to colour lens, FreshKon was the only brand that I’ve been wearing.

Lastly, the other two items that I got were the Steam Cream and Rachel K CC Cream which I can’t wait to try out.

Steam Cream is one of those products that I’ve heard people talking about but have never tried it before. The two most stands out features of the product is that it comes in an assortment of limited edition metal tins and it’s suitable to be used on any part of the body. It’s said to be super-moisturising and I shall try and see if it’ll be comparable to my favourite Burt’s Bees body lotion.

Rachel K CC Cream had been a product I’ve been dying to try but I’ve never got to buy it because I really can’t justify buying another base product (foundation / BB cream / CC cream) after having so many different ones sitting in my drawer. I’ve read various good reviews about it online and I’m excited to see if it’s really as good as what it claimed to be. I’ve never tried a CC cream before so I’m also curious to see what is so different between this and a BB cream.

And now that you’ve read what I’ve to say about samplestore and the products that I got from there, if you’re interested to try out any of the products that I’ve mentioned above or any of the products available from samplestore, then just hop on to the site and start shopping.

Four products for SGD 5.99 – So basically, you’re only paying a dollar fifty for one product. I think it’s a really good deal as opposed to spending SGD 20 – 30 on a full size product that you’re not entirely sure if you’ll end up liking it.

Let me know if you tried it or if there is any product that you think I should try.
