And here’s the final instalment on my recent trip to Solo Surakarta, Indonesia.
Continue from the previous post – 2015 Solo Surakarta – Day 2 (Alila Hotel Solo)
Seeing that the sky was turning dark, we decided to head back to our room, freshen up and head downstairs to Épice restaurant for our dinner.
Deep Fried Mozzarella, 68 000 rph
Thai Chicken Salad, 78 000 rph
In total we ordered 2 drinks, 2 appetisers, 1 salad and 1 pasta to share.
It was around 7pm when we were done with dinner and considering that there isn’t any programs planned for the night, we decided to head out of the hotel to the nearby mall. Really happy that the nearest mall, Solo Square is just 5 to 10 minutes walking distance away from the hotel.
Spent 1 hour to comb through the entire shopping mall and didn’t manage to do much shopping except for some drinks and snacks from the supermarket located at the basement level.
Right before we left, we decided to pop in to A&W to get some food in case we get hungry later in the night.
Take-away A&W back to the hotel!
Had an early rest that night as we have to wake up at 4am to catch a morning flight back to Singapore.
Flight time was at 7:25am (8:25am SG time), hence we have to wake up pretty early to pack up and leave for the airport. Left the hotel at slightly past 4am and only managed to reach the airport at 5:30am. The three of us basically slept through most of the journey.
Then the funny thing is our diver actually dropped us off at the wrong place and we only realised that after he drove off. So we ended up have to walk 200m before reaching the correct terminal. I remember it was really cold that morning.
Adisutjipto International Airport Terminal B for domestic and international flights.
After collecting our boarding pass and checked in the luggage (taking AirAsia back to Singapore), we went straight to the departure hall. So happy to see there’s a Coffee Bean, so we ended up ordering coffee, muffin and cheesecake for breakfast.
Eventually reached back in Singapore at slightly past 10am. This is no doubt the shortest trip ever! Can’t believe I actually “fly out” for less than 48 hours!
A huge thank you to Alila Solo for their hospitality. It’s truly a very wonderful experience to discover a new place so rich in culture.
I believe this trip will be vastly different if we were to be there on our own. It’s a totally different experience to have the locals bringing you around. The food we ate, the experience we got.. Those will never be the same if we were touring the city on our own. It’s a pity that I was only there for a short period of time. Not sure if I will ever have the opportunity to visit Solo again but I wish I do and I look forward to discovering more of this beautiful city!
