Taking a break from writing about my Bangkok’s travelogue. Instead, I wanted to share about my trip to Gardens by the Bay for the Children’s Festival 2019.
Happening from 15 to 30 June 2019, Gardens by the Bay presents Children’s Festival 2019 featuring Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story 4!
If you didn’t already know, I’m a big fan of Disney and Toy Story. So when I first got wind that there is going to be an event in Singapore featuring Toy Story, needless to say, I was beyond excited! So much so that I knew I had to go down on the very first day of the event.
In a way, I’m very fortunate to have a Husband that is willing to put up with my craziness and set aside time to accompany me to the event even if that means burning up our Saturday.
Children’s Festival 2019
It was slightly past 15:00 when we reached Gardens by the Bay. Aside from the colourful themed balloons that I managed to spot from afar, we came across this board at the entrance of Gardens by the Bay which states all the activities that are happening throughout the two weeks event.
Among them, the one that I was most interested in was the Meet-and-Greet session with Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear! I’m so glad I went on Saturday because the Meet-and-Greet (and the Pixar Animation Studios Artist Workshop) were only available on Saturday and Sunday (15 and 16 June 2019).
Look at these Toy Story themed balloon featuring popular characters from Toy Story 4.
Deliberately wore my Uniqlo’s Pixar Vacation UT for the event.

Capsule Dispensing Machine
Spotted this gigantic capsule dispensing machine.
To play, simply spend a minimum of SGD 5 at Gardens by the Bay, then pay SGD 7 at the Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 Bobble Head booth (located right next to the capsule dispensing machine) to get a token for the machine. The machine will dispense either a Woody or Buzz Lightyear bobble head toy.
Bonus: Score a Golden Ball from the machine to launch the Marble Run.

And this is how the Marble Run looks like. Amazing, isn’t it?
Spot the blue marble ball from here.
Toys R Us
Aside from the various activities cater for the kids (more on that later), there is also a sizable Toys R Us booth selling numerous Toy Story merchandise!
Even though I had already bought a handful of items from Toys R Us when the Toy Story merchandise hit stores, I still managed to pick up a couple more things.
Toy Story 4 Funko Pop!
Some, if not all, merchandise from Takara Tomy was on 20% off. A perfect opportunity for me to pick up some of the toys that I’m missing.
I also picked up two of these soccer balls even though I had no foreseeable use for them.

Done with my shopping, it was time for the next activity. Went to pick up this activity / trail book from one of the booths, and our mission (should we choose to accept it) was to collect stamps from the nine trail stations set up at the Children’s Festival, in exchange for an exclusive set of Toy Story stickers.
This activity and all the trail stations are really meant more for the kids than the adults. But I thought it would be fun to play along and at the same time check out the various stations. Each station is uniquely themed after one of the beloved Toy Story characters – there’s Woody, Jessie, Bullseye, Forky, Rex, and others.
Trail Station: Jessie’s Ring Capture
Jessie’s Ring Capture. For this station, we were given five rings and we had to toss at least one ring into the balloon in order to get the stamp.
Trail Station: Bo Peep’s Adventure
Bo Peep’s Adventure. An obstacle course disguised as a beautiful symphony of colours, textures and visual treats. Once again, more for children. No way the adult gets to play this.
Thankfully, there is no need for us to play to get the stamp.
It’s a nice photo spot though.
Trail Station: Star Adventure
Star Adventure. This one is adorable! The entire set up resembles a pinball machine, and kids get to ride and go around on the small carts.
Aside from the activity stations, there are also a few F&B and retails stalls set up at the open space. I believe there is yoghurt, pizza, burgers, etc.
Shopping wise, there is Simply Toys that sell Funko Pop!, Qposket, etc. and souvenirs like t-shirts and tote bags from Goldwood.sg.
We also managed to catch Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear on stage doing the Meet-and-Greet. However, all the Meet-and-Greet passes for 16:00 were already fully redeemed. We were told to head back again for the 17:00 session at 16:30 (thirty minutes before the scheduled Meet-and-Greet) to get in line to collect the photo pass.
Since we had about thirty minutes to kill, we went on to complete two other trail stations before walking back to queue for the photo pass.
Trail Station: Jump with Duke Caboom
Jump with Duke Caboom. For this station, we simply had to take a photo with the backdrop to get the stamp for the trail book.
Head back to the stage at 16:30 and we were number sixteen in the queue for the Meet-and-Greet. It wasn’t as hard as I had imagined getting a pass for the Meet-and-Greet. If we were at Disneyland, we most likely had to line up for more than thirty minutes to have a picture with Woody and/or Buzz Lightyear.
Each Meet-and-Greet pass is valid for one family/group and can accommodate up to four members.
and Buzz Lightyear!
Seeing that each family/group is entitled to one photograph, the line actually moved pretty fast.
So happy that I get to meet and have a photo taken with Woody
and Buzz Lightyear.
Can you tell that he is doing his favourite pose – To Infinity and Beyond?
Another beautiful photo spot with Bo Peep, Woody and Buzz! Wish I could bring them home!
Anyway, we went on to complete our last two trail stations and managed to redeem our set of Toy Story stickers successfully! We left Gardens by the Bay at around 18:00, so we didn’t get to catch the ‘Garden Rhapsody: Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story Adventure’ show at night.
I think I might go back again! There are just too many lovely photo spots around that I’ve yet to take pictures with, and I think that call for a second visit.
If you’re a Disney/Toy Story fan, I highly recommend you to check out the Children’s Festival 2019 at Gardens by the Bay, Supertree Grove! While you are there, take pictures with the beautiful props/figures, complete all the trail stations, do some shopping at the retail stalls and try your luck at the capsule dispensing machine. There is so much to do for the young and the young at heart! Event ends on 30 June 2019.
